Polesitter Max Verstappen registered his third win of the season and his third victory at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday. The triumph came just a day after he recorded the fastest lap in F1 history during qualifying.
He also became the first polesitter at Monza to win the race since 2019. Lando Norris finished second, while his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri secured third place.

Max Verstappen, who had previously won the Italian Grand Prix twice, crossed the finish line in Monza for the third time in his F1 career. Sharing his feelings after the race, Verstappen said, “A great day for us. Lap 1 was a bit unlucky but after that we were flying.
The car was really enjoyable; I could manage the pace and we pitted at the right time. Just fantastic execution by everyone. Step by step, race by race, but this was an unbelievable weekend for us.”
Oscar Piastri continues to lead the championship despite finishing third in Sunday’s race. He said: “Difficult start, maybe not my best couple of laps. Once I got past, it was a pretty lonely race from there. Happy with the points, I'll take it.
We were staying out for Safety Cars if there were any, but Max got back into our pit window and the little incident at the end, but it is okay. Plenty to learn, happy going forwards, and we'll try to be better next weekend.

The Ferrari duo couldn’t recreate the magic from the practice sessions at Monza on Friday. Charles Leclerc finished fourth, while Lewis Hamilton secured sixth place in his first home race for Ferrari.
They were split by Mercedes driver George Russell, who finished fifth.Williams’ Alexander Albon took seventh, Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto finished eighth, Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli came ninth, and Racing Bulls driver Isack Hadjar rounded out the top ten.
F1 Drivers who faced disappointments at Monza
Nico Hulkenberg retired soon after the formation lap due to a technical issue in his Kick Sauber car. Esteban Ocon forced Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll off the track and was handed a five-second penalty. The other Haas driver, Oliver Bearman, collided with Williams driver Carlos Sainz, sending both into a spin. Bearman was given a ten-second time penalty for causing the collision.
