Jabalipur, a quaint village nestled between the Swarngiri and Kanchangiri hills in Jalore district in Rajasthan, is renowned for its serene atmosphere, rugged hills, lush greenery, and mythological significance. Positioned in the south-western part of Jalore, Jabalipur’s unique charm lies in its rocky streets and surrounding hills.

The village is home to approximately 300 to 400 families, predominantly from the lower and middle classes. Due to the hilly and rocky terrain, farming opportunities are limited, prompting many residents to work as labourers to support their families. The tranquil and harmonious environment further enhances Jabalipur’s distinctive identity.

Agriculture thrives on the fertile lands around the village, with moong, millet, pomegranate, isabgol, and castor being the main crops. The abundance of fresh water and reliable water sources contribute to higher yields. Alongside farming, some villagers engage in gardening and animal husbandry to supplement their income.

Local resident Shyamlal highlights the ancient history of the area, recounting tales of Maharishi Jabali from the Ramayana era, who meditated here. Maharishi Jabali, a learned Brahmin from Ayodhya, visited Lord Rama with Bharat during his exile.

Jabalipur also offers access to notable religious sites such as the Jharneshwar Mahadev Temple, Luv-Kush Vatika, and an ancient Dargah. Devotees and tourists visit for both spiritual experiences and the scenic beauty. Jabalipur stands as a vibrant confluence of faith, tradition, and folklore, embodying the enduring legacy of Maharishi Jabali’s sadhana amidst the picturesque landscape between Swarngiri and Kanchangiri.
