Erling Haaland was among the many admirers on Saturday as Jack Grealish produced a dazzling performance for Everton, prompting the Manchester City striker to anoint his former teammate with a new nickname: “Jack De Bruyne."

The praise from Haaland, who played alongside Grealish during their time at City, came after the England international starred in Everton’s 3-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux.

Posting on social media, Haaland likened Grealish’s creative display to that of Kevin De Bruyne, City’s midfield talisman and one of the Premier League’s all-time great playmakers.

Grealish Reborn at Everton

It has been a remarkable turnaround for Grealish, who endured two difficult seasons at City where he often struggled for rhythm and consistency.

But under David Moyes at Everton, the 28-year-old looks liberated, thriving with the freedom he has been granted in attack.

England boss Thomas Tuchel had already name-checked Grealish in his pre-match press conference on Friday, hinting the door remains open for a national team recall.

At Molineux last night, Grealish had a hand in all three Everton goals:

After just seven minutes, his clever flick was nodded home by Beto to make it 1-0.

In the 33rd minute, Grealish combined with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall before setting up Iliman Ndiaye to restore Everton’s lead.

And ten minutes after the break, he turned provider again, laying off for Dewsbury-Hall to smash home Everton’s third.

Though Wolves fought back with goals from Hwang Hee-chan and Rodrigo Gomes, it was Grealish’s influence that ultimately tilted the game in Everton’s favor, securing Moyes his 501st managerial victory.

“He’s Even Better Than I Thought"

For all of Haaland’s high praise, Moyes himself was equally effusive about his new signing.

“The biggest compliment I can say about Jack is that he’s even better than I thought he was," Moyes said after the match.

“Jack’s form is all to do with him. I’m not taking credit for that. He has a wee bit to prove, I’m sure. Jack wants to show he’s a good player.

He’s making a big difference in lots of ways — whether it be his assists or presence on the field."

Everton’s win means they have now collected six points from their opening three Premier League matches, with Grealish at the center of their early momentum.
