Dumka: Jamtara Police on Wednesday busted a 16-member gang involved in kidnapping cyber criminals and arrested five of them while rescuing two abducted youths with the assistance of Giridih Police.
The operation followed the revelation of two separate kidnapping incidents involving Arif Ansari and Ikram Ansari in the Karmatand police station area of Jamtara district, which took place on Nov 3.The arrested criminals have been identified as Azad Ansari alias Nunua from Deoghar, Mr Ansari from Giridih, Samad Ansari from Jamtara, Shivalal Marandi from Narayanpur (Jamtara), and Abdul Haseeb from Karmatar (Jamtara).Police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, a four-wheeler, and three mobile phones from their possession.SP Raj Kumar Mehta said that the arrested individuals are members of a well-organised 16-member gang that targeted cyber fraudsters for abduction. “The gang also demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from the family of the abducted individuals,” the SP said, adding that the gang was also active across Jamtara, Giridih, Dhanbad, and adjoining districts in multiple cases of robbery and murder.
