Patna: The JD(U) on Saturday expelled 11 party functionaries, including sitting MLA Sudarshan Kumar and four former MLAs, for anti-party activities and defying the party’s ideology and organisational loyalty.
The expelled members have also been suspended from the party’s primary membership.“The party took disciplinary action against them and six other workers after due deliberation on their cases of organisational indiscipline,” state JD(U) spokesman Arvind Nishad said.The order regarding their expulsion and suspension was issued by JD(U) general secretary Chandan Kumar Singh.Sudarshan Kumar, the sitting MLA of the Barbigha assembly constituency, became a rebel candidate after being denied a party ticket.
He is the grandson of former Congress heavyweight Rajo Singh.Among the former MLAs, Shailesh Kumar sought a ticket for Jamalpur, Sanjay Prasad for Chakai, Shyam Bahadur Singh for Barharia, and Ranvijay Singh for Badahara. During a constituency-level NDA workers’ meeting in Chakai, supporters of Sanjay Prasad disrupted proceedings and clashed with the followers of sitting Independent MLA and minister Sumit Kumar Singh.The six other expelled functionaries and their constituencies are Aman Kumar Singh (Sahebpur Kamal), Asma Parveen (Mahua), Lav Kumar (Nabinagar), Asha Suman (Kadwa), Divyanshu Bhardwaj (Motihari), and Vivek Shukla (Ziradei).
