Jharkhand Launches Industrial Policy Lab to Shape Future with 15 Innovative Projects

Ranchi: The state industries department on Tuesday launched Jharkhand Industrial policy lab, to develop 15 live projects, aiming to shape the state’s industrial future. On Thursday, the department formally announced the launch of the programme. The Jharkhand Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (JIIDCO) and Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) have collaborated with Jamshedpur-based XLRI, Invest India, and EY to develop the projects and to solve day-to-day problems faced by the department in investment promotion, branding of the state and boosting the state’s MSME sector.Managing director of JIIDCO and JIADA Varun Ranjan said that the 15 projects span critical areas such as preparing Jharkhand’s Vision 2035 industrial roadmap, creating an AI-powered MSME self-diagnosis dashboard, developing a net-zero industrial estate blueprint, and re-engineering the state’s single window investment facilitation system.“Around 80 students of the institution have been engaged in the project for a duration of three months. Out of the 15, eight projects are grade-based projects for the students of XLRI’s public policy and business strategy course. They will get grades based on their performance. The other seven projects can be chose by the students from all courses,” Ranjan said. For each project, two teams have been formed, with each team having five students.

“There are a total of 16 groups. During the three-month programme, progress of the projects will be reviewed in the first weeks of October and November, and the final presentation will take place in the first week of December,” the managing director added. An orientation and project briefing session of the projects was held at XLRI Jamshedpur on Tuesday, where the projects were formally launched.“The projects underscore the govt’s commitment to position Jharkhand as a leading investment and industrial hub. The projects would directly support the implementation of the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, ensuring that policy intent is matched by effective on-ground execution,” the MD of JIIDCO and JIADA said.
