Premier League giants Manchester United climbed into the top four of the English top-flight on the back of their 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at the fabled Old Trafford on Saturday.

Bryan Mbeumo netted a brace after Matheus Cunha and Casemiro netted a goal each as Ruben Amorim’s men breach into the coveted top echelons.

Strikes from and Bryan Mbeumo helped United post a resounding win over the Seagulls Cunha put the Red Devils ahead in the 23th minute of the game before Casemiro’s strike picked up a blaring deflection off a defender before finsing its way into the back of the net in the 34th minute as United took a two-goal lead into the break and looked to have good value for it.

Despite the deficit, Brighton demonstrated early promise before United’s goals snapped the visitors’ rhythm. Brighton intended to begin the second half of the game with vigour, but United’s summer signing Mbeumo netted yet again just past the hour mark to send the stadium steeped in culture and tradition into a state of delirium that has seldom been witnessed in recent times.

Manchetsr United old boy Danny Welbeck left his mark on his return to his boyhood stomping ground with an authoritative fee-kick that beat Senne Lammens to give the travelling side a consolation. Charalampos Kostoulas headed home in the second minute of additional time to give the game a rather nervy complexion towards the end of the tie. However, United restored their two goal advantage with Mbeumo doubling his tally on the day as United went on to pick up all points on offer.

The victory proved to be United’s third win on the trot following up on their 2-0 win over Sunderland at home and the 2-1 win over rivals Liverpool at Anfield as hope returned to the Mancunian side.

Earlier in the day, Sunderland jumped to the second position in the Premier League table with their dramatic win over Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the English top flight encounter between the sides.

Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring for the Blues but Wilson Isidor and Chemsdine Tabli netted for the visitors to give Sunderland a come-from-behind win.
