A court in Kundapura has issued a clear directive restraining all parties from harassing the father of Kannada public figure Chaithra Kundapura, amid an ongoing family dispute that has attracted significant public attention. The order was passed while hearing a petition filed by the senior citizen, who approached the court seeking protection and relief. After considering the submissions, the court instructed that no form of physical or mental harassment should be caused to him and emphasised that his safety and dignity must be ensured at all times. The court noted that disputes within families, particularly those involving public figures, often spill into the public domain and social media, leading to unnecessary pressure and distress.
It observed that such situations must be addressed strictly through lawful means and not through intimidation, public provocation, or harassment. Highlighting the importance of safeguarding senior citizens, the court cautioned that any attempt to threaten, coerce, or trouble the petitioner would be viewed seriously. Authorities concerned have been directed to ensure compliance with the order and to take necessary action in the event of any violation.
The case has drawn attention due to the strained relationship between Chaithra Kundapura and her father, which has been the subject of legal proceedings and public discussion over the past few months. While allegations and counter-allegations have surfaced, the court refrained from commenting on the merits of the dispute at this stage, focusing instead on the immediate need to protect the petitioner. The court stated that the matter would continue to be examined in accordance with law and that further hearings would be held to consider the issues raised by both sides. Until then, the directive against harassment will remain in force.
