Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur on Friday described the judiciary as a steadfast pillar of democracy, entrusted with resolving complex issues — including inter-State disputes — while ensuring equal justice, liberty, and freedom for all citizens.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 79th Independence Day celebrations held on the High Court premises in Guntur district, Justice Thakur noted that public trust in the judiciary stems from the crucial role it plays in upholding the Constitution. He urged the entire legal fraternity to continue serving the nation with dedication and integrity.

Recalling the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and ordinary citizens for the country’s independence, the Chief Justice described Independence Day as a solemn occasion to honour their legacy and renew commitment to the nation’s welfare.

“The patriotism and nationalism of our freedom fighters continue to inspire present and future generations,” he said, while also expressing gratitude to the Armed Forces for their relentless efforts in safeguarding the nation’s borders.

The event was attended by Additional Solicitor General Challa Dhananjaya, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas, Additional Advocate General E. Sambasiva Pratap, Bar Council Chairman N. Dwarakanatha Reddy, High Court Advocates’ Association president K. Chidambaram, Public Prosecutor M. Lakshmi Narayana, and High Court Registrar General Y. Pardha Saradhi.
