Julian Sayin has been named the starting quarterback for Ohio State ahead of the highly anticipated season opener against the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns. Head coach Ryan Day announced the decision on Sunday, August 18, 2025, during a press conference in Columbus, Ohio.

Sayin originally committed to Alabama and spent a brief period with the Crimson Tide. After Nick Saban retired in January 2024, Sayin decided to transfer to Ohio State. Last season, he played in four games and completed 5-of-12 passes for 84 yards and one touchdown while serving as the third-string quarterback.
Lincoln Kienholz also played well during spring and fall practice. Both quarterbacks split practice reps at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
