Madison Beer’s first-ever Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show performance may have looked flawless under the lights, but behind the scenes, it came together with some last-minute fashion magic. In a recent SiriusXM TikTok Radio interview with Davis Burleson, the “Bittersweet” singer revealed that her original pair of Angel wings had to be completely redesigned just one day before she hit the runway.Beer explained that while her first set of wings was breathtaking, it was far too heavy to perform in.
“I had other wings that were giant and [weighed] 25 lbs. We played with them in rehearsals, and I was like, ‘They’re literally gorgeous, but I can’t perform in them. I’m going to hit a dancer off the platform, I’m so scared to do this,’” she recalled.
The design team immediately got to work and crafted a new, much lighter version weighing just five pounds, allowing Beer to move comfortably during her headlining performance.
A dream come true and a place in Victoria’s Secret history
Despite the pre-show hiccup, Beer described the experience as “surreal and crazy,” saying she had dreamed of performing at the show since she was a teenager. “I’ve been to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in the past and was like, ‘I would die to be a tree prop in the background of that stage,’” she said, laughing.The singer performed alongside fellow headliners Missy Elliott, TWICE, and Karol G, an impressive lineup that marked Victoria’s Secret’s bold new direction blending fashion, music, and empowerment.
