After Italy disappointment, the former Napoli boss eyes redemption in Turin as Juventus look to stop their eight-game winless slide.

Juventus are hitting the reset button, and they are turning to one of Italy’s most seasoned football minds to do it.

According to multiple Italian newspapers and football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Luciano Spalletti is set to take over as Juventus’ new head coach, with an official announcement expected either later today or Thursday.

The move comes just days after Juve sacked Igor Tudor, following a miserable run of eight winless games across all competitions — a slide that’s seen them fall off the Serie A title pace and out of European contention.

Spalletti, who most recently managed the Italian national team, hinted earlier this week that he’d love another crack at club management, but at the time, claimed he hadn’t yet received a call from Turin.

“It would be nice for me to get a new opportunity to get back into the game after that," Spalletti said at an event in Milan on Tuesday. “Any manager would be happy to coach Juventus."

For Spalletti, this could be a chance at redemption.

The 65-year-old tactician led Napoli to their historic Serie A title in the 2022-23 season, their first in over three decades, before taking over the national team job last year.

His spell with Italy, however, ended on a sour note after the Azzurri’s disappointing Euro 2024 campaign, where they crashed out in the Round of 16 and faced heavy criticism for their lack of identity and attacking spark.

Now, he’s reportedly ready to bring his signature fluid, possession-heavy style back to club football.

Reports suggest the official unveiling could come after Juve’s match against Udinese on Wednesday evening.
