K.C. Venugopal files complaint over fake social media posts

AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, on Friday filed a complaint with the State Police Chief, seeking action against people who allegedly circulated fake, misleading and defamatory content against him on social media by misusing his name and photograph.

In his complaint, Mr. Venugopal stated that certain social media handles have been spreading false claims and falsely attributing statements to him regarding welfare pensions and the LIFE Mission housing scheme that he never made. He alleged that these fabricated posts are being deliberately circulated to tarnish his image.

With the Assembly elections approaching, the intention behind such false propaganda is character assassination and to influence voters for political gains, the Congress leader added.
