The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is preparing to file a petition seeking the custody of Nune Sridhar, the executive engineer who worked for the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), who was arrested earlier this week in connection with alleged irregularities in its execution.
Mr. Sridhar, who was remanded in judicial custody on June 11, is facing charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to ACB sources, the agency intends to question him in detail to trace the origins of the wealth he is alleged to have accumulated during his tenure in public service, particularly his involvement in the Kaleshwaram project.
The arrest followed simultaneous searches at 14 locations across Telangana, including Mr. Sridhar’s residence and properties linked to his relatives. The raids revealed a villa at Tellapur, a flat at Shaikpet, three more houses in Karimnagar, commercial space at Ameerpet, and independent buildings in Hyderabad, Warangal and Karimnagar.
The ACB reiterated its appeal to the public to report corruption involving government employees. Complaints can be made anonymously through the toll-free number 1064 or via social media platforms, with full confidentiality.
