Kameswar Rao to be acting CJ of Karnataka High Court

The President on Thursday appointed Justice V. Kameswar Rao, senior judge of the High Court of Karnataka, as the acting Chief Justice with effect from the date Chief Justice N.V. Anjaria relinquishes charge of his office following his elevation as a judge of the Supreme Court.

Born on August 7, 1965, Mr. Justice Rao secured his law degree from Delhi University and was enrolled as an advocate in 1991 with the Bar Council of Delhi. After practising before the Supreme Court and several High Courts, he was designated as a senior advocate by the Delhi High Court in 2010.

He was elevated as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013, and as a permanent judge on March 18, 2015. He was transferred as a judge of the High Court of Karnataka and assumed office on June 1, 2024. At present, he is also the Executive Chairperson of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority.
