Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada gets ₹4.33 crore cash from hundi

Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam in Vijayawada has received a cash donation of ₹4,33,85,655, in addition to 420 grams of gold and more than 6 kgs of silver, the temple authorities have said.

The counting process of the offerings made by the devotees, which continued for 20 days, concluded on Monday.  

According to temple authorities, devotees from India and abroad made donations in foreign currencies, including 582 US dollars, 22 Singapore dollars, 215 Canadian dollars, 485 UAE dirhams, 15 Saudi riyals, one Omani baisa, 18 Qatari riyals, 23 Malaysian ringgit, 15 euros, 2¼ Kuwaiti dinars, 250 Australian dollars, and 15 British pounds.

The counting of the offerings was done at the Sri Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam, in the presence of temple Chairman Borra Radhakrishna and Trust Board members Sukasi Saritha, T. Ramadevi, Padmavati Thakur, Kalavathi, Raghavaraju, and Harikrishna.

Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Nayak said that all the offerings would be utilised for the temple’s development.
