Karnataka man, 21, electrocuted while moving live wire during Ganesh idol immersion

A 21-year-old man died of electrocution during Ganesh idol immersion celebrations in Karnataka’s Vijayapura on Tuesday.

The incident took place near the Tonga stand close to Gandhi Chowk Circle on the seventh day of immersion rituals. According to police, the man identified as Shubham Sankala, came in contact with a live wire while attempting to lift it with a stick to make way for the Ganesh idol procession. The deceased was a resident of Dobale Galli in Vijayapura city.

Authorities said the accident occurred when Shubham received a sudden electric shock while trying to move the wire overhead. Emergency services rushed to the spot but were unable to save him. The immersion procession was disrupted following the incident, and police personnel were deployed in the area to manage the situation. An investigation into the matter is underway.
