A political controversy has erupted in Karnataka after Congress MLA D Ravishankar was caught on camera hitting a party worker during a public event in Mysuru district. The incident occurred in Doddekoppalu village of KR Nagar taluk, where the legislator had arrived to inaugurate a series of development works in the area.

According to the details, the confrontation unfolded on stage when a local leader made a request for the sanction of a dairy building for the village. The appeal appeared to irritate the MLA, who then struck the party worker, identified as Mahadevu, on the head in full public view. Witnesses reported that Ravishankar, visibly agitated, told the worker, “Just sit back quietly," before continuing with the programme.

A video capturing the moment has since gone viral on social media, drawing sharp public criticism. Viewers have questioned the MLA’s conduct and raised concerns about the treatment of grassroots party workers. The footage, widely circulated across platforms, has also prompted political opponents to target the Congress party over the behaviour of its elected representatives.

The party leadership is yet to issue an official response.
