Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao revealed that BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would soon lead a people’s movement as the honeymoon period of the Congress government is over.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao is also likely to address some public meetings as people are waiting for him, and his address to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislature Party and State Executive Committee on Sunday will give a clear direction to the party cadres, he said.
In an informal chat with reporters at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, Mr. Rao shared his views on a range of issues concerning Telangana politics and governance.
Mr. Rao said he prefers values and dignity in politics while making it clear that dragging family members into political discourse reflects poor ethics. He stated that he would never comment on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s family members even if he continues to attack his family members.
Referring to recent controversies, Mr. Rao remarked that while the Chief Minister may choose to play football with anyone, the people of Telangana would respond politically to his arrogance and failures. “Revanth Reddy may indulge in political theatrics, but people of Telangana will “play football” with him politically.
Mr. Rao also criticised proposals to split Hyderabad into multiple municipal corporations without stakeholder consultation, warning of administrative chaos.
He also alleged a “secret understanding” between the Congress and the BJP, questioning Mr. Revanth Reddy’s participation in a BJP MP’s housewarming ceremony in Delhi. He also claimed that BJP leaders are shielding the Chief Minister despite corruption allegations.
On the political defections, Mr. Rao challenged the Chief Minister to make defected MLAs resign and face by-elections if he is so confident of gram panchayat results. He accused defectors of openly aligning with the Congress and still claiming to be in BRS. Earlier, he addressed the BRS backed sarpanches from Tandur constituency.
