Kevin Durant needed just one assist on Sunday night to hit a milestone — and he wasted no time.
Moments after recording his first dime against the Sacramento Kings, the NBA confirmed Durant had reached 5,000 career assists, cementing yet another historic marker in his decorated career.
That assist pushed Durant into rare air. He became the third-fastest player in NBA history to reach 30,000 points, 5,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists, trailing only Michael Jordan (960 games) and LeBron James (1,107 games).

By the end of the night, Durant also moved up to 10th on the all-time field goals made list, surpassing Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon.
Milestones secured, the night quickly turned chaotic.
Durant was solid early, logging 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 20 first-half minutes as Houston built a comfortable double-digit lead. But the Rockets couldn’t hold on.
Sacramento stormed back behind a combined 74 points from DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook and Keegan Murray. Westbrook drilled a clutch game-tying three with 13.3 seconds left, forcing overtime, before Dennis Schroder buried a corner three to seal a dramatic 125-124 Kings win.
Durant finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, though his shooting was off on a rare rough night (8-of-21 from the field).
Yet, at 37, Durant still remains elite. He has now played 23 games this season, shooting over 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from three, while averaging 25.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
If his current form holds, Durant is firmly on track to return to the All-Star conversation for a third straight year.
