The Kerala government on Thursday declared a public holiday on June 7 on account of Id-ul-Adha, or Bakrid, instead of June 6. The public holiday was declared under the provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. According to a government order, the government has earlier inter alia declared holiday for Bakrid on June 6.
However, since the Bakrid is celebrated across the State on June 7, Saturday will be a holiday for all government offices, all public sector undertakings and all educational institutions, including professional colleges, and all institutions coming under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and Friday will be a working day, an order issued by the State government said.
