Kerala High Court declines Jolly Joseph’s appeal to halt web series Anali’s release

The Kerala High Court has dismissed an appeal from Jolly Joseph, a suspect in the Koodathayi murder case, who sought to stop the release of the web series 'Anali'. She argued that the series, which parallels her controversial case, could compromise the integrity of her trial.

The Kerala High Court has declined a plea filed by Koodathayi murder case accused Jolly Joseph seeking to stop the release of the upcoming Malayalam web series Anali. The plea contended that the series bears strong similarities to the Koodathayi murder case and should therefore be banned.The petitioner argued that the release of the series would prejudice her ongoing trial and damage her right to a fair hearing. She sought an interim stay on the release of the series until the completion of the trial. However, Justice V. G. Arun refused to grant the stay, stating that there was nothing concrete to establish such claims apart from similarities seen in the teaser.

For the unversed, the petition was filed by Jolly Joseph, also known as Jollyamma Joseph, the prime accused in the Koodathayi cyanide murder case. According to the prosecution, she allegedly poisoned and killed six people, including her first husband, with the motive of gaining control over family assets.The Malayalam web series Anali, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, recently released its trailer. The show, reportedly inspired by the sensational case, stars Nikhil Vimal, Leona Lishoy, and others in key roles. The series is expected to premiere soon.
