Vijay Deverakonda's spy action thriller 'Kingdom' has been performing fairly well at the box office, following an impressive opening. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film entered its third day with moderate growth in collections.As per early estimates reported by trade portal Sacnilk, 'Kingdom' earned around Rs 8 crore in India net on Saturday (day 3), bringing its total domestic collection across all languages to Rs 33.50 crore. The film had opened to a strong Rs 18 crore on Thursday but saw a dip to Rs 7.5 crore on Friday.
Theatre occupancy
Telugu audiences continued to support the film in decent numbers. 'Kingdom' registered an overall 47.40% occupancy across Telugu states on Saturday, August 2.
The film saw a gradual rise throughout the day, with morning shows recording 31.25% occupancy, which rose to 46.31% in the afternoon. Evening shows clocked in at 47.06%, while night shows saw the highest turnout at 64.97%.While the film’s Telugu version remained dominant, its Tamil version saw lower engagement. The overall Tamil occupancy for Saturday stood at 21.11%. Morning shows began with a sluggish 12.74% and it improved in the afternoon to 23.31%.
However, there was a small dip during the evening (17.66%), before climbing again at night to 30.71%.
About the film
Speaking about the film, it stars Vijay Deverakonda as the protagonist Suri. The film is set in the early 1990s and follows Soori, a humble police constable who is on a covert mission to track down a powerful smuggling gang operating in Sri Lanka. The twist in the story is that the gang's leader is Soori's estranged brother, Siva, played by Satyadev, who had run away years earlier after a troubled past involving family conflict.The film also stars Bhagyashri Borse, Ayyappa P Sharma, and others in key roles.The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
