The Kinnerasani reservoir in Palvancha mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district almost filled to the brim with water level in the dam hovering just below the full reservoir level (FRL) of 407 feet.

The water level in the reservoir, situated in the midst of the Kinnerasani wildlife sanctuary, reached 404 feet late on Thursday evening, owing to steady inflows from the upstream areas of the dam spread in Allapalli and Gundala mandals.

In view of the likely opening of the crest gates of the dam to discharge surplus water into the downstream in the next couple of hours, officials alerted people living in villages along the river course to be cautious.

A police team led by Palvancha Circle Inspector K. Satish, on Thursday, visited Sangam, Dhanthelaboru and Gangadeviguppa villages in the downstream area of the dam.

Police personnel urged villagers, mainly farmers and cattle grazers, to take necessary precautions and not to venture into flood prone areas.
