Three individuals have been arrested in connection with an alleged gang rape inside a law college in South Kolkata’s Kasba, according to police sources.
The Kasba Police Station registered a First Information Report (FIR) and made the arrests following a complaint regarding the incident, which reportedly occurred within the premises of South Calcutta Law College on June 25 between 7.30 pm and 10.50 pm.
Police sources stated that the named accused include a former student and staff member, as well as enrolled students of the college. After receiving the complaint, the police carried out a preliminary medical examination of the victim, recorded witness statements, and visited the scene. The college premises, identified as the location of the alleged incident, have been secured for pending forensic examination.
Two of the accused were arrested from in front of Siddhartha Shankar Sishu Roy Udyan near Talbagan Crossing in Kolkata, while the third was detained at his residence. Mobile phones belonging to all three have been seized as part of the investigation.
Police officials confirmed that the accused are in custody and are scheduled to be produced before the Alipore court today, where investigators will seek their remand to police custody for further investigation into the case.
