With the local body elections nearing, the District Congress Committee (DCC) has accelerated the preparatory works for electioneering in Kottayam district. A meeting of the DCC convened in the presence of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Sunny Joseph here on Tuesday (August 19) reviewed the progress of various initiatives, including efforts to enrol names to the voters’ list within the stipulated deadline.
Inaugurating the DCC leadership meeting, Mr. Joseph said the Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) are well-prepared for the upcoming elections.
“Extensive meetings at the constituency committee level are scheduled from August 22 to 24, followed by ward leadership meetings on August 25, 26, and 27. House visits will be conducted at the ward level by Congress leaders on August 29, 30, and 31. Fundraising activities will also take place in conjunction with these house visits,” he said.
Mr. Joseph said the KPCC has also allocated funds to ward, mandalam and block committees as part of the preparations. This marks the first time that the State leadership has designated special funds specifically for preparatory activities, according to party leaders.
