HYDERABAD
D. Krishna Bhaskar, a 2012-batch IAS officer on Tuesday took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). He took charge from the outgoing officer N. Balram who is repatriating to his parent cadre IRS after a seven-year stint with Singareni.
Mr. Krishna Bhaskar will hold the post of SCCL CMD as the additional charge as he is officiating as the CMD of the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TG-Transco) and also as the Special Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance and Energy Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Mr. Balram joined Singareni in 2018 on deputation as the Director (Finance) and was holding charge as the CMD for the last two years after the Congress formed the government in the State. The change of guard in Singareni comes at a time when the State public sector undertaking is planning large-scale diversification and expansion, including exploration of rare earth minerals.
Apart from foraying into thermal and solar power generation within Telangana, the company is planning thermal and solar power generation in Rajasthan and Odisha, where it has taken up mining of coal in the Naini block earlier this year. The company is also planning to enter geo-thermal power generation, exploration of coal and rare earth minerals in other countries.
