Journalist and poet Kavalam Sasikumar has been chosen for the ‘Krishna Geethi’ award instituted by the Tali Mahakshetram and the Revathi Pattathanam committee headed by the Zamorin for the year 2025. Mr. Sasikumar has been selected on the basis of his anthology of poems titled Nagara Vrikshathile Kuyil.
The Krishna Geethi Award was instituted in memory of former Zamorin Manavedan Raja (1595-1658), the writer of Krishna Geethi, which is the basis of Krishnanattam.
Meanwhile, E.N. Eshwaran, head of the Department of Astrology at Government Sanskrit College, Thripunithura, was chosen for the ‘Manorama Thampuratti Award’ for literature. K. Sukumaran was selected for the ‘Kuttiyanujan Raja Award’ for the best Krishnanattam artiste.
The awards will be presented on the occasion of Revathi Pattathanam, to be held at Guruvayurappan Hall at Tali on November 4. The awards consist of a bronze Krishna idol, citation, and ₹15,000.
