Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress government of targeting the poor while sparing the influential, including the Congress leaders, in the ongoing demolitions undertaken by the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

He also inaugurated a photo exhibition titled “Hydraa atrocities: Justice for the rich, injustice for the poor" at the party headquarters here on Sunday.

Making a detailed presentation during the event, Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress government led by A. Revanth Reddy was demolishing the dwellings of the poor without due process, like issuance of the notic,e while protecting assets belonging to the big people including some builders.

He questioned why HYDRAA officials were acting selectively. “A bulldozer reached a poor man’s house within a week of construction, but the government has not touched the big farm houses of the rich. Why are the same rules not applied to big builders and Congress leaders?” he asked.

Mr. Rao said that houses in areas such as Chandrayangutta and Kondapur were razed without notice, leaving families, including women and children, destitute. “A pregnant woman was pushed aside, and a three-year-old child went hungry after their home was demolished,” he said.

Referring to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s earlier remarks on the issue, the former minister said that Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka  had named several builders during a presentation but none had been acted against.

The BRS MLA assured the victims that his party would stand by them. “Many people have become victims of HYDRAA and Musi. We will bring you justice once the KCR government returns to power,” he said, adding that not a single new project had been initiated by the Congress government in the last two years.
