HYDERABAD
Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress government of driving away major industrial investments with its ‘administrative incompetence and corrupt governance’.
In a statement, he expressed dismay over the relocation of Kaynes Technology’s ₹2,800 crore semiconductor investment project from Telangana to Gujarat. The project, originally expected to generate 2,000 direct jobs to local youth, is now shifted out of the State due to the Congress government’s failure to retain investor confidence, he alleged.
“The Revanth Reddy government has not even responded to the exit of a project we (BRS government) worked hard to bring here. This is nothing short of betrayal of the youth of Telangana,” the BRS leader said.
He recalled that during the BRS regime, the government had managed to convince Kaynes to shift its unit from Karnataka to Telangana. “Within 10 days of their request, we allotted land next to Foxconn in Kongarakalan. That’s the kind of governance we offered”, he noted.
Alleging that it was the Congress government’s lack of clarity, transparency and industrial focus that had moved the company to Gujarat, the BRS leader said: “Corruption and inefficiency are the trademarks of the current administration”, he said.
Calling the exit of Kaynes Technology a wake-up call, Mr. Rama Rao warned the government that many more companies could leave if it failed to shift its focus back to industrial development. “The Chief Minister must open his eyes and realise that Telangana’s future is at stake and if he continues in this direction, the exodus of industries will only accelerate”, he cautioned.
