Lawyer-couple murder case: IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu hails Supreme Court order handing over case to CBI

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court’s direction to hand over the investigation into the lawyer-couple murder case dating back to 2021 in Peddapalli district to the CBI.

In a statement, Mr. Sridhar Babu said the apex court’s order to this effect reinforced people’s trust in the judicial system.

He said when the lawyer couple — Vaman Rao and Nagamani — were hacked to death on the middle of the road in daylight on February 17, 2021, the then BRS government remained indifferent to the gruesome double murder.

Instead of ensuring impartial investigation into the ghastly twin murders case, the persons at the helm in the BRS dispensation shielded the actual culprits, he charged.

He exuded confidence that the elderly couple who had lost their son and daughter-in-law in the horrific incident will get justice. “Ultimately, justice will prevail,” he added.

In a separate statement, Shashi Bhushan Kache, an advocate of Manthani town, hailed the Supreme Court direction and expressed hope that the CBI inquiry will unravel the truth and render justice to the bereaved family of the slain lawyer-couple.
