LDA proposes to extend Metro to Barabanki

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has sent a proposal to the state govt for extending the Lucknow Metro network to Barabanki to improve connectivity between the state capital and the neighbouring district.Officials said the proposal aims to extend the existing North-South corridor of the UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), which currently operates between CCS Airport and Munshipulia, towards Barabanki via Ayodhya Road.LDA officials said that the extension has been proposed in view of a large number of daily commuters travelling between Lucknow and Barabanki for work, education, business and medical treatment.Sources said the state govt is considering the proposal.According to officials, the proposed corridor is part of a larger plan to expand the Lucknow Metro network to nearly 150 km through multiple new corridors in the coming years.
