LeBron James will "always" have love for Drake - Even if he grooves to Kendrick Lamar

LeBron James and Drake were once the closest of friends. Their friendship began back in 2007, even before the Canadian rapper began his career in music. In fact, James was there at the release party of Drake's debut album, Thank Me Later, in 2010.

But things took a turn when the NBA superstar was seen attending Kendrick Lamar's Pop Out event in Los Angeles in 2024. Drake has publicly dissed James since, by changing the lyrics of his songs, though Bron decided to keep quiet. That is, until a recent appearance, where he finally spoke of his love for Drake.

LeBron James finally speaks up about Drake

LeBron James recently appeared on Speedy Morman’s show, where the host spoke to him about all sorts of things - from his love for music, to his career, to a possibility of a retirement, to... well... Drake. Morman asked the Los Angeles Lakers star about his friendship with Drake, saying, “Y’all cool? What’s the status there? Is this someone you'll always have love for?”

And while he has so far avoided speaking about his fallout with the rapper, Bron decided to give an answer, saying: “Always, always wish him the best.

Obviously, different places right now, currently he’s doing his thing, I’m doing mine, but it’s always love for sure.” While they are not the same friends they used to be back in the days, it looks like James still keeps Drake in high regards.

What happened between Drake and LeBron James?

LeBron James and Drake were friends for almost two decades, before the former's appearance at a Kendrick Lamar Pop Out event in Los Angeles changed the course of their friendship.

The Kendrick Lamar-Drake drama was one of the biggest beefs in the history of the music industry, so when your so called close friend is seen grooving to your enemies beats, that seems to have hurt Drake's feelings, and he retaliated in kind.

Earlier this year, Drake seemingly changed the lyrics of his song, Nonstop, during a show - where he scrubbed any mention of LeBron James, which was previously there. He also covered up his LeBron James tattoo, and gave it a new twist by turning it into a tribute for fellow Canadian superstar, NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. While James has said he will "always" have love for Drake, how much of that love is returned is what fans are eager to know. Also Read: LeBron James not yet ready to hang up the boots - Los Angeles Lakers star contemplates retirement, but under one condition
