Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi has reportedly been offered a three-year contract extension by MLS club Inter Miami as the Florida-based club look to tie down the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner to the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

Sources suggest that the deal includes a flexible clause, permitting the magician from Rosario to leave at the end of 2026 or 2027, depending entirely upon him.

Messi has transformed the landscape of American football since his arrival in the MLS as he helped Inter Miami to the Supporters’ Shield in 2024 and the Leagues Cup in 2023.

He also headlined the Miami-side that competed at the revamped edition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 before the Herons were knocked out of the tournament in the Round of 16 by former club PSG.

Messi arrived at Miami in the year 2023 following his disappointing spell with Ligue 1 side PSG, where he played between 2021 and 2023, as Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham pulled off a massive heist to rope in the best player of all time.

Messi, who was forced out of his beloved Barcelona due to financial constraints following a trophy-laden spell over two decades, made the switch to the Parisian giants.

Messi achieved his crowning moment in Qatar at the FIFA World Cup 2022 as he led the Albiceleste to their third title with a dominating performances that claimed him the player of the tournament award to boot.

Messi lifted the Lal Liga title ten times with the Catalan club, while also clinching the Copa Del Rey and Supercopa de Espana seven times each, the UEFA Champions League four times, and the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup three times each during his storied time with the Blaugrana.

He added a couple of Ligue 1 titles and the Trophee des Champions to his illustrious trophy cabinet during his time in the French Capital city before making the switch to the Miami-based outfit.
