The BJP on Thursday announced its second list of 39 candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, signalling an acceleration in its campaign push across key constituencies.

With this, the party is aiming to firm up its electoral strategy and expand its footprint in the state. The announcement is expected to intensify political activity as rival parties prepare to counter BJP’s candidate lineup.

BJP leader CR Kesavan has claimed that senior Congress leaders from Assam and across the country are joining the BJP due to growing disillusionment with the party’s leadership.

He alleged that leaders like Bhupen Kumar Borah and Pradyut Bordoloi have exited Congress over its “dynastic focus,” while praising PM Narendra Modi’s leadership as development-oriented. The remarks come amid heightened political churn ahead of key elections.
 

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has clarified that he is not a chief ministerial contender for the Kerala Assembly elections, stating that the post should ideally go to an elected MLA.

Tharoor, who is not contesting, said his role will focus on statewide campaigning. He also welcomed Rahul Gandhi’s call for unity within the UDF, noting that party leaders are now “dancing together” in sync ahead of the polls.

The AIADMK has approached the Election Commission alleging a violation of the Model Code of Conduct in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district.

Party MP Inbadurai claimed that over 2,600 mobile phones were stored at the District Collectorate and intended for distribution among anganwadi workers and other staff. He has demanded a fair probe, questioning the purpose and timing of the alleged distribution.
