Noida Labour Protest: Labour unions' protest over salary hike turns violent in Noida
Violence broke out in Noida on Monday as a three-day labour union protest over wage demands escalated into arson, clashes and widespread disruption. Large groups of workers blocked key roads, leading to massive traffic jams along the Delhi-Noida border, while police resorted to mild force to disperse the crowd.
Tensions flared in the Phase 2 area, especially in Noida Sectors 1 and 84, where protesters set at least two vehicles on fire.
The protest triggered severe congestion on major routes, including NH-9 and DND Flyway, during peak office hours. Long queues of vehicles stretched for kilometres, leaving commuters stranded for hours as demonstrators blocked stretches of the roadway.
