The Malayalam female superhero film 'Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra' starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and directed by Dominic Arun has been enjoying a splendid run at the box office. The film, after 23 days of its release, is still able to rack up big numbers.
On its fourth Friday, it collected Rs 1.75 crore.According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie had a phenomenal first week with collections of Rs 54.7 crore. During the second week, the film brought in Rs 47 crore. In its third week, the film added another Rs 27.1 crore to its tally. In the third week, the Malayalam version dominated with Rs 21 crore, the Tamil version earned Rs 3.6 crore, the Telugu version collected RS 1.3 crore and the Hindi version minted Rs 1.2 crore.This brings the total collection to Rs 130.55 crore domestically.
Theatre occupancy
The film recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 24.52 percent. Morning shows were at 10.32 percent, then increased to 14.74 percent in the afternoon and during the night shows it went to 48.50 percent. On the other hand, the Telugu version had a 17.44 percent occupancy rate. Morning shows were quiet at just 1.60 percent, but afternoon shows picked up at 32.50 percent.
Night shows maintained a respectable 18.22 percent.
'Lokah' franchise
'Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra' is the first film of this Malayalam superhero franchise. It is backed by Dulquer Salmaan's production house banner. Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas will also be seen in the 'Lokah' franchise. Dulquer plays Odiyan and Tovino features as Chathan.
About the film
The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Bengaluru and gets involved with an organ trafficking gang.
