Shivamogga
A lone tusker has been roaming in parts of Tirthahalli taluk for the last two days, leaving the local people in fear and shock. The elephant with a radio-collar around its neck had been spotted at Guddekoppa, Araga and neighbouring villages in the taluk.
The residents of Guddekoppa spotted the animal in the morning on Sunday (June 1, 2025). The people saw the animal close to the residence of former minister and Tirthahalli MLA Araga Jnanendra.
A few morning walkers captured the animal on their mobile cameras. The video clips showing the animal moving close to human habitats have gone viral in Shivamogga district.
The tusker is said to be one among those recently captured in Sakaleshpur of Hassan and released in Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary with a radio collar. The local officers are making efforts to drive it back to the forest area.
