Lubrizol, Grasim Industries inaugurate CPVC facility in Gujarat

The new facility will strengthen local production capacity for plumbing and piping applications in India

Ahmedabad: Lubrizol and Grasim Industries on Tuesday inaugurated a chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin manufacturing facility at Vilayat in Bharuch district of Gujarat.

The new facility will strengthen local production capacity for plumbing and piping applications in India. The new plant, along with the recently expanded CPVC compounding capacity at Lubrizol’s Dahej facility, will create an integrated manufacturing footprint for CPVC materials used in residential, commercial and industrial infrastructure projects. The companies said the facility will help ensure reliable domestic supply of CPVC resin and compounds used in pipes and fittings, while supporting India’s infrastructure and water delivery requirements.“Lubrizol introduced CPVC technology to India more than two decades ago, and since then, we have witnessed strong growth of the market alongside the country’s expanding economy,” Lubrizol IMEA managing director Abhishek Shrivastav said. “With the commissioning of this world-class facility in Vilayat, we are strengthening our manufacturing capabilities in India by following a local-for-local approach,” he added.

The company said the investment underlines its long-term commitment to India and aligns with the govt’s ‘Make in India' initiative.Jayant V Dhobley, business head and CEO of Global Chemicals, Aditya Birla Group, said the partnership combines Grasim’s manufacturing capabilities with Lubrizol’s technological expertise to deliver high-quality CPVC materials for the Indian market.CPVC is widely used in hot- and cold-water systems, fire sprinkler networks, HVAC systems, and industrial piping applications due to its heat resistance, corrosion resistance and durability. The company recently expanded its CPVC compounding plant in Dahej, commissioned a Global Capabilities Center in Pune, expanded its Mumbai office in Vikhroli, and announced plans for a dedicated India Innovation Centre.
