PM Modi said that several issues he intended to raise at the Ranaghat rally could not be addressed due to the adverse weather conditions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that just as the people of Bihar have repeatedly rejected the return of “Jungle Raj", it is now time for West Bengal to free itself from what he termed the “Maha Jungle Raj" under the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
PM Modi was unable to attend the BJP rally at Ranaghat in West Bengal’s Nadia district in person due to inclement weather and dense fog. His helicopter reportedly hovered over the Taherpur helipad but was forced to return to Kolkata airport after visibility failed to improve. The Prime Minister later addressed the rally virtually and apologised to party supporters for not being physically present.
“Due to inclement weather, I unfortunately could not be physically present at the Ranaghat rally to meet my sisters and brothers of West Bengal. Therefore, I addressed the rally over the phone and sought people’s blessings," PM Modi said in a post on X.
He said that several issues he intended to raise at the Ranaghat rally could not be addressed due to the adverse weather conditions.
Launching a sharp attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, the Prime Minister accused the ruling party of pushing the state into misgovernance and stalling development.
“The people of Bihar showed time and again that they are not interested in the return of Jungle Raj. Now is also the time to free ourselves from the Maha Jungle Raj prevailing in West Bengal, because of the TMC," he said.
PM Modi said that while the BJP believes in “speed, scale and good governance", the TMC remains “preoccupied with cuts and commissions", resulting in development projects worth thousands of crores being stalled.
He claimed that schemes related to housing, healthcare, food security and education are not progressing due to the state government’s “non-cooperative attitude".
PM Modi Raises Infiltration Issue
The Prime Minister also accused the TMC of shielding illegal infiltrators, calling it a major threat to the state.
“Look at the extent of TMC’s affection for infiltrators. Their supporters say ‘Modi Go Back’, but fall silent when it comes to saying ‘Infiltrators Go Back’," he said, cautioning people against what he described as the party’s conspiracies.
Assuring strict action, PM Modi said, “It is Modi’s assurance to the people of West Bengal that once a BJP government is formed in the state, stricter action will be taken against infiltrators."
Highlighting infrastructure development, PM Modi said major connectivity projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid during the day.
He said the proposed four-lane road from Barajaguli to Krishnanagar would benefit North 24 Parganas, Nadia and surrounding areas, while significantly reducing travel time between Kolkata and Siliguri.
The Prime Minister also invoked Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Vande Mataram on its 150th anniversary, saying it had inspired freedom from colonial rule in the past and must now motivate the nation to build a “Viksit Bharat" in the 21st century.
Referring to law and order and social issues, PM Modi said the people of West Bengal have “endured a lot" in recent years, expressing concern over the condition of women in the state.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister appealed to voters to give the BJP a chance to form a “double-engine government" in the state, promising development at “double the speed" ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
