MUMBAI: Mumbai’s municipal elections have brought several wealthy candidates into the spotlight, with many crorepati corporators now set to take key positions in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.The richest include Makarand Suresh Narvekar (BJP) with Rs 124 crore, Harshita Ashwin Narvekar (BJP) Rs 63.6 crore, Meenal Sanjay Turde (Shiv Sena) Rs 56 crore, Tulip Brian Miranda (Congress) Rs 51 crore, Anita Nandkumar Vaity (BJP) Rs 29 crore, Yashodhar Phanse (Shiv Sena UBT) Rs 25.9 crore, and Bhaskar Rama Shetty (Shiv Sena) Rs 25.4 crore.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena-led Mahayuti registered decisive wins on Friday in several municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Dhule, Panvel, Jalgaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, and Jalna, out of the 29 corporations where vote counting took place.In Navi Mumbai, the alliance secured a comfortable majority, with the BJP winning 65 seats and the Shiv Sena 43 out of 111.

Ulhasnagar saw the BJP take 37 seats and Shinde Sena 36 out of 78.In Panvel and Dhule, the BJP alone achieved a majority for the Mahayuti, winning 55 of 78 seats in Panvel and 50 of 74 in Dhule, while the Sena won two and five seats respectively. In Jalgaon, the BJP secured 46 seats and the Sena 22 out of 75.Saffron also performed strongly in Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, where the BJP crossed the majority mark with 39 of 78 seats. Shiv Sena and NCP won two and 16 seats respectively, while Congress took 18 seats.

In Jalna, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance won 53 of 65 seats, leaving Congress with just nine.In Bhivandi-Nizampur, no alliance managed to secure a majority of 45 seats, with Congress winning 32, NCP (SP) 12, BJP 22, and Shiv Sena 12. In Malegaon, Shiv Sena emerged as the largest party with 18 seats, though no major party crossed the majority line.In Ahilyanagar, the BJP won 25 seats, NCP 27, Sena 10, Congress two, and Shiv Sena (UBT) one.
