THANE: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed strict action against builders and associates involved in duping residents of 65 unauthorized buildings in Kalyan-Dombivli.
He instructed the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) to file complaints with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and register cases against those responsible.The Bombay High Court has declared these 65 buildings illegal which was built using fake RERA certificate, putting thousands of families at risk of eviction. Many residents allege they were cheated by developers who sold them flats without proper permissions.
A meeting was held at Sahyadri Guest House under the chairmanship of DyCM Shinde to discuss possible relief measures for affected residents while adhering to court directives.Shinde emphasized exploring legal solutions to provide relief to residents while ensuring action against guilty developers. He also directed the civic body to launch awareness campaigns, display boards, and publish updated lists of authorized buildings on the official website to prevent future fraud and protect citizens.
