Suspicious boat spotted off Raigad coast; police deploy large contingent

NEW DELHI: Security forces in Maharashtra's Raigad district heightened coastal surveillance on Sunday after spotting a suspicious boat near Revdanda coast, prompting immediate response from multiple agencies including the Navy and Coast Guard. The vessel was detected approximately two nautical miles from the Korlai coast in Revdanda by security personnel. Initial observations suggest the boat may have foreign markings and could have drifted to the Raigad coastline.Following the alert, teams from Raigad Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Quick Response Team, along with Navy and Coast Guard personnel were dispatched to the location.

Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal and senior police officials arrived at the scene to oversee operations.

However, severe weather conditions hampered their efforts to reach the boat.Attempts to approach the vessel using a barge, including one by SP Dalal herself, were unsuccessful due to heavy rain and strong winds. As a precautionary measure, authorities deployed a large police contingent in the area and enhanced overall security across the district.
