Makkal Needhi Maiam nominates Kamal Haasan as candidate for Rajya Sabha polls

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan will be the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls that will be held on June 19, the party’s executive committee decided on Wednesday (May 28, 2025).

The ruling DMK had allotted one Rajya Sabha seat to the MNM during the negotiations before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The MNM did not contest the Lok Sabha polls and was instead given the Rajya Sabha seat.

The executive committee members also sought the support of the DMK and other alliance partners for Mr. Haasan.
