The Tilak Nagar Police have arrested the marketing manager of the Karnataka Milk Federation for allegedly assaulting a traffic policeman black and blue in full public view over a road rage incident at East end junction, Marenahalli road on Wednesday.
Based on a complaint filed by the policeman, Umashankar R., a case was booked against the accused, identified as Praveen T.S., charging him for attempt to murder, danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation, intentionally insulting someone to provoke a breach of public peace and wrongful restraint.
According to the complaint, the accused was driving a car in a rash and negligent manner, taking an U-turn from the wrong side on the busy Bannerghatta road, knocking down a two-wheeler.
Umashankar, who was on duty, rushed to the spot, but the accused was allegedly rude and refused to move the car, blocking the traffic. This caused a huge traffic jam.
Umashankar tried to reason with Praveen, but the latter allegedly punched his face with a car key and started assaulting him black and blue. He allegedly hurled abuses at the policeman and threatened to kill him until passers-by intervened.
The injured Umashankar was taken to the hospital, and a complaint was filed. Based on the complaint, the police tracked down the accused and arrested him.
