Man held for cheating Kharghar woman of Rs 1.03 crore in crypto currency investment scam

Navi Mumbai: A man from Andheri has been arrested for allegedly duping a homemaker from Kharghar of Rs 1.03 crore in a cryptocurrency investment fraud.The accused, Zubair Shamshad Khan, residing at Jarimari, was nabbed from Mumbra, Thane, on Wednesday, said senior inspector Dipali Patil of Panvel Cyber Cell. In May, the complainant, a 53-year-old woman, registered an FIR of cheating, alleging that she had been duped of Rs 78.82 lakh by some fraudster who made her invest in cryptocurrency assuring high returns on investment, the police said. —George Mendonca
