Man held for stabbing wife to death in Dehradun

Dehradun: A 39-year-old labourer was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death after a domestic dispute in Dehradun’s Jolly Grant area, police said on Sunday. On Friday evening, the accused, Gopal, returned home from work and got into an argument with his wife, Pratibha, 30. Police said he allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her twice in the stomach.Neighbours rushed Pratibha to a hospital after hearing her screams, but she died of her injuries on Saturday. The couple lived in rented accommodation in Jolly Grant. SI Chintamani Naithani of Jolly Grant police outpost said, “Pratibha’s brother lodged a complaint, following which police registered a case under murder charges. Gopal was produced before a local court, which sent him to jail.”
