A 40-year-old man died after jumping from the 13th floor of a housing society in Ghaziabad on Thursday. Later, when police were called, and they entered the flat, they found the body of his mother lying on the bed.

Police said they received an emergency call from a housing complex, Mahagunpuram Society, regarding a man jumping from the 13th floor. They found the man in a critical state and rushed him to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The man has been identified as Rajveer (40), son of Mahendra Singh. He was living in the flat with his 70-year-old mother, Satnam Kaur (70).

When police entered the flat, they found Satnam Kaur's body lying on a bed. Officials said the body appeared to be around two days old, and no external injury marks were found.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rajveer was living separately from his wife, who resides with their child in Gaur City-2. While he used to visit them frequently, he had not gone there for the past two days. His wife reached the hospital after being informed of the incident.

Police said Rajveer was earlier associated with astrology but was currently unemployed after not finding success in the field. He had recently been recording podcasts.

The incident has raised serious questions about the sequence of events — whether the mother's death preceded the suicide and under what circumstances both deaths occurred. Both bodies have been taken into custody and sent for postmortem examination.

"Upon receiving information through Dial 112, police reached the spot. The injured individual was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. During inspection of the flat, his mother's body was also found, which appeared to be around two days old. Both bodies have been sent for postmortem and further legal action is underway," Suryabali Maurya, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kavi Nagar, said.
