Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim sent his Christmas wishes out to the adoring fanbase across the world and revealed the work the unit has been putting in to overturn their fortunes.

Amorim, who has been tasked with the daunting job of restoring the Red Devils to their old glory, hoped that he could give United fans a belated gift when the side welcomes Newcastle to Old Trafford on the 27th of December.

“Merry Christmas! We’re working very hard to do better next year," the Portuguese boss said.

“I hope everyone will celebrate Christmas with the 3 points for Manchester United," the 40-year-old gaffer added.

United will be without the services of star player Bruno Fernandes for their clash against the Magpies as the Portuguese midfield faces a brief period on the sidelines after he picked up a soft tissue injury during United’s 1-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.

In addition to Fernaneds, seventh-placed United, will also be devoid of the services of seven other players including Casemiro, who is suspended, and Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, and Matthijs De Ligt, who are injured. Additionally, Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo are participating in the AFCON.

Amorim urged other players to step up amid the swathe of players that will be unavailable for the clash against Eddie Howe and Co., who have 23 points under their belt stand 11th ahead of the game at OT.

Newcastle look to continue their strong showings against the Red Devils in recent times as the Toon Army looks to add to their five wins out of the last six encounters against United.

Since the last time Newcastle went down to United, in the Final of the EFL League Cup in 2022, the toons have managed four wins in five meetings.
