With the aim of improving SSLC examination results, 56 nodal officers have been appointed in Mandya district and tasked with monitoring academic performance in schools under their jurisdiction.

Presiding over a review meeting on measures to enhance SSLC results in Mandya on Wednesday, ZP Chief Executive Officer Nandini K.R. directed the nodal officers to visit the schools assigned to them by December 20. They have been instructed to identify prevailing issues in the schools and submit a detailed report to the DDPI through the respective BEOs.

The CEO said complaints have been received from students and the public alleging that in some schools, the syllabus is not being taught properly, teachers are avoiding classes citing various reasons, special classes are not being conducted, and model examinations. Nodal officers have been asked to personally verify these issues and ensure corrective measures are taken.

She directed that model examinations must be conducted for SSLC students in all 253 high schools. Answer scripts have to be evaluated by teachers from other taluks to ensure transparency. Students failing in these tests must be given special attention, she said.

For effective monitoring, a WhatsApp group comprising nodal officers, BEOs, DDPI, and other officials will be created by the ZP office. From the first day, nodal officers have been instructed to share photographs of school visits, suggestions for improving results, and details of strategies being implemented.

From Thursday onwards, for three consecutive days - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - tests should be conducted for two subjects per day, as less than three months remain for the final examination. Question papers will be supplied at the district level, examinations must be conducted transparently, and answer scripts evaluated by teachers from other taluks. Students scoring less than 50% should receive focused academic support.

Officials were told that a follow-up meeting will be held after 15 days, during which nodal officers and the DDPI have to present a concrete action plan to improve the results of aided and private schools as well.
